Cookie Policy

4444.com and each framework site set no cookies for analytics or advertising. Visits are counted — see below — but the measurement is cookieless, so an ordinary visit leaves no analytics cookie on the device. “No cookies” is not the same as “not counted,” and we will not use one to mean the other.

Settings kept on your device. Three small values live in the browser’s own local storage — not cookies, never sent to a server, and specific to the device that set them: fourfourfourfour.theme, which remembers whether light or dark mode was last chosen; fourfourfourfour.visited, a short list of which frameworks have already been opened so the map can show your own path through them; and umami.disabled, present only if you asked below not to be counted.

How visits are counted. We want to know which of the seventy-two frameworks actually land, and would otherwise be guessing. Two measurements do that, and neither sets a cookie.

Umami is open-source analytics we run on our own server, in the United States, loaded from analytics.4444.com. It records the page viewed, the site that referred you, and coarse technical details — browser, operating system, screen size and language, an approximate location (country, region, city), page-speed timings, and any campaign or advertising click identifier that was already in the link you arrived on — we run no ads, but if another site tags a link to us, that tag is recorded. Your network address is used to work out the location and is then not stored. It sets no cookie. The software gives each visit a session identifier, and has a field for tagging a known person which stays empty because nothing here uses it. The data reaches no third party, is never used for advertising and is never sold. It is kept on our own server in New York, only we can read it, and we have not set a deletion period — it is kept until we delete it.

Cloudflare Web Analytics is added by Cloudflare, which serves these sites, before a page reaches your browser. It counts page views and page-speed timings and sets no cookie. Cloudflare acts as our processor. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell it — but what Cloudflare itself does with it, and how long it keeps it, is governed by the Cloudflare Privacy Policy, not by us.

Your control, and its limit. Preferences in the footer of any page stops Umami counting this browser, at any moment, with no request to us — the tracker checks that setting before it sends anything. It cannot stop Cloudflare Web Analytics, because that measurement is applied at Cloudflare’s edge and never passes through the page; only we can disable it, from the Cloudflare dashboard. To object to that one, or to ask what is held about you, write to us.

Why there is no banner. Our position is that a cookieless, first-party count with a working off switch does not need one, and that a banner asking permission for it would mostly train readers to click through the banners that do matter. That is our reading, not a ruling; if it is wrong where you are, the switch is above and you can write to us.

Security. Cloudflare, which hosts and protects the sites, may set a strictly-necessary cookie (__cf_bm) when it needs to distinguish a person from a bot, and Turnstile may set one when a form is submitted. Neither carries an advertising or cross-site tracking function, and they cannot be switched off without switching off the protection.
