Privacy Policy

4444.com and the framework sites ask for nothing to read them. There are no accounts, no sign-ins, no advertising, and no fingerprinting of devices or browsers. Which frameworks have been opened stays in the browser’s own local storage, on the device that opened them — never on a server, never seen by us. The Cookie Policy lists exactly what that storage holds and how to clear it.

How visits are counted. Two measurements run, and neither sets a cookie.

Umami is open-source analytics we run ourselves, on our own server in New York, loaded from analytics.4444.com. For each visit it records the page path and any query, the page title, the site that referred you, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, an approximate location (country, region, city) worked out from the network address, page-speed timings, and any advertising click identifier already present in the link you arrived on. Your network address is used to work out that location and is then not stored — there is no such field in the database. The software gives each visit a session identifier so repeated page views are not counted as separate people; it also has a field for tagging a known person, which stays empty because nothing on these sites uses that feature. Only we can read any of it, it reaches no third party, it is never used for advertising and it is never sold. If you are reading from outside the United States, these details are transmitted to and stored in the US.

Cloudflare Web Analytics is added by Cloudflare, which serves these sites, before a page reaches your browser. It counts page views and page-speed timings without cookies. Cloudflare acts as our processor and its handling is described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. What it retains is set by Cloudflare, not by us.

How long it is kept. We have not set a deletion period for the Umami data. Until we do, it is kept until we delete it. We would rather say that than imply a schedule we do not have.

Why we are allowed to. Where the GDPR, UK GDPR or a similar law applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in knowing which of the seventy-two frameworks are actually read — something we cannot learn any other way, and the whole reason the frameworks have separate sites. We judge the intrusion small: no cookie, no name, no email, no profile carried between sites. If you disagree, that judgement is yours to challenge.

What you can switch off, and what you cannot. Preferences in the footer stops Umami counting this browser, immediately, with no request to us — the tracker checks that setting before it sends anything. It cannot stop Cloudflare Web Analytics: that is applied by Cloudflare before the page reaches you, so no setting on the page can reach it, and only we can turn it off. To object to it, or to ask what is held about you or to have it deleted, write to us and we will act on it.

When you write to us. The newsletter, letter and contact forms are the only places the site collects anything. What you type — your name, email address, any message, and which frameworks you asked for — is sent to us so we can reply and add you to the letter. Each submission also records the page it was sent from, because a reader who signs up on one framework’s site is usually asking for that framework, not all seventy-three.

Who handles it. Submissions travel from your browser to a Cloudflare function and are delivered to our inbox by Resend, an email delivery service, on servers in the United States. Cloudflare, our host, processes your IP address and request metadata to serve the site and protect it from abuse. Neither is permitted to use your details for anything else. We run no advertising, sell no data, and share it with nobody else.

Keeping and removing it. We keep what you send for as long as the letter runs or the conversation is live, and then delete it. You can ask at any time to see what we hold, correct it, or have it removed — write to us and it comes out. Depending on where you live you may also have rights to portability, restriction, or to complain to your data protection authority; UK/EU readers can do so directly.

Legal basis (where it applies): your consent, and the steps you asked us to take. Withdrawing it is one message.
